INNOVATE UNITED is United Way of the Greater Triangle’s social innovation initiative that connects, engages, and collaborates with innovators, intrapraneurs, entrepreneurs, and individuals to improve the lives of families and children in low-income households in North Carolina’s Durham, Johnston, Orange, and Wake counties.
It is the only data-first, social innovation initiative in the region, and it complements our Community Impact work, bringing collaborative and new solutions to the region’s social challenges. Our existing relationships with public, private, and social sector leaders make us uniquely positioned to catalyze this work across the region.
Innovate United is aimed at unifying intellectual, human, and financial capital to support self-sustaining social ventures, both nonprofit and for-profit, targeting solutions to specific social issues in the Triangle. Innovate United was born out of our 2014 Childhood Hunger Social Innovation Challenge which advanced community-driven solutions around food security. We are working to fuel both new and scale-ready social ventures that further our work to create generational success for children and their families together while supporting a strong social innovation ecosystem.
